TMC and Crossfire Media Announce Fog Computing Conference Program


San Jose event devotes content to exploring the opportunities presented by fog computing

Norwalk, Conn. - September 24, 2014 - TMC and Crossfire Media today announced a two day conference program for the Fog Computing Conference, held November 19-20, 2014 at the San Jose Marriott Hotel. The inaugural event will focus on the benefits of Fog Computing, including managing switches, routers and sensors, monitoring and aggregating data, storing and sharing information for Business Intelligence systems and support for device mobility, people and assets.

The Fog Computing Conference  agenda will feature sessions presented by industry leaders-including experts from Cisco, Axeda, Entrepreneur, OpenRAN,  RacoWireless, Salesforce.com, 6Fusion -and will include the following sessions:

  • Cisco Industry Perspective - Fog Computing Architecture, and Why the Cloud and Smart Devices Aren't Enough: This session explores IoE networks, and how Fog Computing complements both endpoint and Cloud device capabilities. We discuss a set of challenges faced by solutions that try to push all the intelligence up into the cloud latency, mobility, geographic diversity, bandwidth, reliability and security or down into smart endpoints power, space, bandwidth, modularity, scalability, environmental, storage, reliability, security. Finally, we describe Fog Computing architecture, how the intermediate Fog layers in the network enable a very rich application ecosystem and how they create opportunities for new network capabilities and higher levels of performance.
  • Getting out of the Haze: Hybrid Cloud Computing Becomes Foggy: The computing environment, like companies themselves, are a complex ecosystem where operations and information represent a blend of solutions. This session explores the value inherent in bringing cloud computing concepts back toward the premise.
  • Fog Support for Emerging IoT Applications:  The IoT application landscape shows two distinctive peaks: consumer-oriented apps, and enterprise-based apps. This talk begins by contrasting their salient characteristics, and point to the need of the Fog to support enterprise-based applications.
  • A Vision for Fog Software and Application Architecture: This session explores the similarities and differences between fog and cloud, discusses the challenges presented by fog's unique constraints and proposes an open source based solution to bring prevailing Cloud paradigms to Fog deployments with minimal disruptions.
  • The Plurality of Autonomic Networks: This session looks at the innovations in routing and network management brought about by segment routing, autonomic networks and other techniques.
  • Security Considerations and Implementation for Fog Platforms: This talk will address the issues, both solved and unsolved, around designing a secure Fog Platform.
  • Embedded Devices: Embedded Legacy: For the Internet of Things, sensors and devices are designed to have a long life out in the field. This makes configuration and management more about the modification and less about the replacement. This session explores what needs to be considered when selecting, developing and deploying new IoT devices.
  • Making the IoT 'Things' Addressable, Manageable and Secure:  This panel explores elliptic curve cryptography, federation and identity with the goal of making IoT addressable and manageable.
  • Enhancing Business Decisions through the Data Fabric of the IoT: With network connectivity and virtualization of computing, we are capable of making the data readily available and virtually addressable. This session explores how the cloud services translate into Enterprise data fabric solutions.
  • Predicative Systems: Utilizing data in Context for Better Decision Making: This discussion is about how understanding the data in context often lends itself to be used for diagnostics and predictive strategies in the Enterprise.
  • Real time Analytics - Putting the Fog Lights in Place: Real Time Analytics include technologies like complex event processing engines, streaming databases, massive parallel processing algorithms, in-memory compute grids, high performance computing hardware, and graphical processing units have a role to play in delivering intelligence to field operations. Learn how the use of context and tools will deliver business intelligence.
  • Radio Redundancy and Dynamic Spectrum Strategies for the Enterprise: This session explores the opportunity that now exists for the enterprise to use some spectrum in a way that reduces costs, adds redundancy and provides some autonomy from service providers. With the pending regulatory decisions on 3.5 Hz, radios can be deployed and used dynamically on demand as needed.
  • IoT Managing with Real-Time Collaboration and HTML5: JavaScript, SVG and a suite of other complimentary solutions have made the delivery of real time information easier and more collaborative. This session looks at what is possible via the web and how it's being used to make sure that collaboration is not hindered by lack of information.
